Twenty years ago, Diane Von Furstenberg created the wrap dress and captured the spirit of women's liberation. With its plunging neckline, knee-grazing skirt, and sashed waist, it celebrated in-your-face femininity and sexual freedom. Now, Von Furstenberg, 50, and her daughter- in-law, Alexandra, 25, have brought the much-missed wrap back with the September '97 launch of their new clothing line, Diane by Diane Von Furstenberg. Thousands of the easy-care, easy-wear dresses have been flying off the racks, proving that it's once again a wardrobe essential for the strong and successful woman on the go. In addition to more than 70 new patterns, and colors, the Diane line also introduced several sexy pieces, including a cap-sleeve wrap and a halter wrap dress.

Alexandra

Greatest achievement: "Marrying my soul mate, Alex Von Furstenberg."

Biggest thrill: "I was walking down the street when I noticed a young woman who looked so sexy and put-together. Then I realized she was wearing one of our new wrap dresses!"

Greatest challenge: "It was difficult to join the Diane Von Furstenberg Studio, because being the daughter-in-law, I didn't want the other people in the office to treat me any differently. I had to come in and prove myself."

Advice to other women: "With hard work and determination, you can reach your goals."

Favorite way to relax: "A hot bubble bath"

Fun, fearless, formula: "Go after what you want, because dreams really do come true."

Greatest achievement: "That I've learned to translate my creative visions into something material. I can take those visions and make something happen."

Greatest challenge: "Currently, I'm facing the challenge of taking my brand global. But I always manage to overcome obstacles by facing them head-on, and that's what I plan to do."

Advice to other women: "Always follow your instincts."

Favorite way to relax: "I love going to my house in the country. I find nature incredible nurturing."
