Pia and Christopher Getty threw what most people agreed was the Christmas party of the year Wednesday night.

After dinner, the first floor of their Upper East Side town house turned into a late-night boite for dessert (buche de Noel and tangerine sorbet with spun sugar) and dancing.
The midnight crowd included Gigi and Avie Mortimer, Marina Rust Connor and Ian Connor, Karen and Ferdinand Groos, Nancy Jarecki, Bettina Zilkha, Kalliope Karella, Tory and Chris Burch, Vanessa von Bismarck, Caroline Berthet, Carolina Herrera Jr., Patricia Herrera, Alexandra Shiva, Rachel Peters, Fernanda Niven, Liz Cohen, Jill Roosevelt, Jennifer Creel, Anna Lafont, Mariane Pompidou, Daniel Romauldez, Ayshe Farman-Farmaian and Farhad Farman-Farmaian. Marie Chantal of Greece was in London, but Pavlos, her husband, was a powerful presence on the dance floor, whirling Serena Boardman around on her perilous heels and at one point facing off with Bob Colacello.

As the hour pressed past one, Pia Getty (in a backless red Versace) and Rena Sindi (in blue Roberto Cavalli) took the mike to karaoke to Madonna's "American Pie." And at two in the morning, the evening's most eagerly awaited guest finally walked through the doors: Puff Daddy -- in full-on Sean John oversize denim -- who chatted on the sidelines with Chantal Miller until deejay Tom Finn slapped his anthem "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems" onto the turntable. At the first note of the tribute, Puffy glided onto the floor for a spin with Sindi.
